Summary
Dr. Gerald Harris, DO, has been practicing prolotherapy and neural therapy for almost 20 years. He is a leader in the field of neural therapy, having trained with world renowned Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, in the early 1990s. Dr. Harris quest to help his chronic pain patients led him to develop the Harris Method of Pain Treatment that integrates both neural therapy and prolotherapy to maximize patient results.
Prolotherapy is also known as nonsurgical ligament and tendon reconstruction or regenerative injection therapy, and is a treatment for chronic pain. The treatment is useful for many different types of musculoskeletal pain, including arthritis, back pain, knee pain, foot or ankle pain, neck pain, sports injuries, unresolved whiplash injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic tendonitis, partially torn tendons, ligaments and cartilage, degenerated or herniated discs, TMJ and sciatica.
Furthermore, Neural Therapy is a system of treatment for chronic pain. It involves the injection of local anesthetics into scars, autonomic ganglia (clusters of nerves), trigger points, acupuncture points, sites of trauma, glands, and other tissues. It is thought to work through normalization of function of the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is that part of our nervous system that controls things in our body we do not think about (automatic) acting as a control system largely below our level of awareness.
Moreover, PRP Therapy is a treatment done to stimulate healing which involves injection of one’s own growth factors into injured areas. Uses for PRP in musculoskeletal medicine include treatment of tendonopathy, tendonosis, acute and chronic muscle strain, ligament sprains and intra-articular injuries and joint pain such as arthritis and knee meniscus damage.

Indeed, the type of stem cells that are particularly useful in the treatment of musculo-skeletal injuries are called mesenchymal stem cells. These progenitor cells ( cells that have the ability to form into the type of cells surrounding them ) are found in several different tissues, but are most abundant in bone marrow and adipose ( fat ) tissue, especially fat.
